The next day John was there again with two of his
disciples. When
he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” When
the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. -
John
1:35-37
Jesus was the son of God, empowered to save the world but
he needed the introduction of John the Baptist to get his first disciple, we all
can use a helping hand sometime.
Not only did Andrew become a notable follower, the first
thing he did was to bring Simon (Peter) his brother to Jesus.
Call it commendation, attestation, referral or endorsement, we all
need this help. It makes no difference whether you are in business, employment
or a not for profit organisation, everyone needs some endorsements. Bill
Clinton said in his autobiography, “I rose to the presidency on the shoulders
of my personal friends….”
I’ve worked in the construction industry as a quantity
surveyor for many years now; I have been blessed to work alongside some very
wonderful individuals and on some very high profile projects. God bless Jean
Starkey for pointing me out to Ashley Brookes who gave me my first surveying job.
Endorsement in the real sense is not publicity, you can’t
buy it; you’re just going to have to make every contact count. Give everyone an
experience worth commending and some will go away spreading your good fragrance.
The other day I needed to have a bespoke garment made, so I
called a friend who’s just had one made. Sorry he said, I told the tailor I won’t
use him again, so I can’t possibly recommend him to you. That tailor is
probably unaware of the true cost of the bad experience to my friend. Similarly,
it’s hard to put a value on a good experience, it is priceless.

People are generally good, most will be willing to lift you
up for nothing, make it easy for them to do so. Here is one question I ask
myself a lot, if people have a choice, will they choose to be around me?
May you always be in favour with God and humans
in Jesus name, people will rise up to help you into your destiny.
