There are many ways to be relevant to the world or the
communities we live in, find and meet a practical need. If you have something
the world needs they will travel to see you. The contrary is also true, if you
don’t meet any need, it makes no difference where you live; people will drive
past you all day long.
When the angels had left them and gone into
heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this
thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” Luke 2: 15
Meeting a need is only a starting point, we all need to go
beyond this entry level relevance to a higher level where we are able to offer
people something they want in addition to what they need.
You’ll need to exceed expectations these days to be
relevant. For instance when you’re hungry, you need some food, but you don’t
want the fat or cholesterol. So it is somebody’s way of exceeding your
expectations by removing most of the fat and the other things you don’t want.
Sometime ago, healthy foods had a reputation for awful
taste, they had to be endured. This is changing because people are doing all
they can to exceed our expectations.
Mobile phones only came in one colour for some time, you don’t
like it black, tough! However today things
are different, someone has realised you might want it in your favourite colour.
Then saviours shall come to Mount Zion To judge
the mountains of Esau,
And the kingdom shall be the Lord’s. Obadiah 21
You are packaged a saviour to your world, it's about time.
