But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his

When you think about this situation, it is a bit like a
child not wanting a shower but rather decides to mask the awful smell of
unwashed body by wearing the parent’s expensive perfume. Techniques can only
work for so long.
Uzziah must have ventured far from God at this time; his
arrogant response to the priest is a proof. When you are far from God, the
thing to do is return home. What we do sometimes is hide away and send Him a
postcard or a gift in the post. In spite of the sweet fragrance of the incense,
God can still smell the rottenness of the sinful flesh under the elaborate
This goes for relationship with God as with human,
gimmicks, techniques and quick fixes won’t solve a bad attitude or lack of
integrity. It takes time to build character or repair a bad relationship and
sometimes, it even takes longer with humans than it takes with God. God is all
knowing you see, men are not. Stephen Covey said you can’t talk yourself out of
a problem you behaved yourself into. Sometimes, the hard way is the only way.
Receive the grace for strength of character, the boldness to walk out of
darkness into light in Jesus’ name.
