Not a blacksmith could be found in the whole land of
Israel, because the Philistines had said, “Otherwise the Hebrews will
make swords or spears!” So all Israel went down to the Philistines to
have their plow points, mattocks, axes and sickles sharpened. 1Sam. 13:19 & 20
Here is a very interesting situation, I wonder how the made this
strategic move, perhaps they priced the blacksmiths in Israel out of the
market or simply made it impossible for new once to train. May be the simply imposed high levies, or restricted the flow of raw materials.
I was in charge of a big repairs and maintenance project in London a
few years ago, there had been a storm all across Europe, a lot of
building trades and materials were in desperate demand. Among them was
timber fencing panels, an item usually picked up from the merchants now
had a lead-in time running into weeks and in some cases months. There
was an unconfirmed story at the time that two ships loaded with fencing
panels heading for the UK got bought by a Russian oligarch. This move
supposedly created or exacerbated the scarcity in the UK.
it is the duty of governments and leadership be strategic and prevent
unfair competition, it is our individual duties to consolidate our
strength and enhance our positions.
Despite their predicament, God gave the victory to the Israelites.
As you step out boldly irrespective of your predicament or
disadvantages, may the presence of God give you the overflow you desire
in Jesus’ name.
