When Saul realized that the LORD was with David and that his daughter
Michal loved David, Saul became still more afraid of him, and he
remained his enemy the rest of his days.1Sam. 18: 28 & 29
Only yesterday we read how David had become a national hero after his
defeat of Goliath, the same victory that earned him a celebrity status
also made him a target from the jealous king Saul. Over the period of 8
years, possibly longer, Saul had many attempts on David’s life but God
kept David and prevented him from getting hurt. May God be your defence always.
The battle with Goliath, an external enemy only lasted one day while
the pursuit from Saul, the internal enemy lasted years. Sometimes, the
closer the enemy is to you, the more difficult to fight. That’s why the
enemies inside me (wrong thoughts, habits, attitude etc.) are the most
difficult conquer. There is help in God to deliver from all enemies,
within or without.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal
but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments
and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and
being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (NKJV)
May God give you help in every fight, may the almighty be your defence always in Jesus’ name.
