Bounty Hunting gone Wrong

“I happened to be on Mount Gilboa,” the young man said, “and there was Saul, leaning on his spear, with the chariots and their drivers in hot pursuit. When he turned around and saw me, he called out to me, and I said, ‘What can I do?’… David asked him, “Why weren’t you afraid to lift your hand to destroy the LORD’s anointed?” 2Samuel 1:6, 7&14

Some interesting stories you read in the bible, we know Saul took his own life; this would-be bounty hunter was possibly on the battle ground and saw everything happen; perhaps he even endangered his life both in the acquisition and conveyance of his special cargo. He expected to get a reward but it cost his life.

It’s not unusual for people to want to exaggerate or embellish the truth for various reasons. Sometime as in this story, it’s for a reward but some other times it might be for enhanced self-importance. This is a negative trait though it might have yielded undue advantages in the past; "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." - Abraham Lincoln

If you have a knack for exaggerating, stop now otherwise, it’s only a matter of time and you’ll be found out. Then all the genuine efforts of the past will count for nothing.

Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out. Proverbs 10:9

We receive the grace to walk in integrity in Jesus’ name
