Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years;
seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in
And he died in a good old age, full
of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead. 1Chronicles 29:26-28
David the shepherded boy, Child soldier, runaway captain, great
warrior and psalmist king of ancient Israel finally breathed his last. He’s had
a great life mixed with opportunities, sorrows, difficulties, challenges and
victories both in his private and public life.
During a particularly trying time, when he was running away
from king Saul, and hiding in a cave living the life of a fugitive, he wrote in
a song: “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all”
This became his testimony. It
shall be yours as well.
to David, perhaps you’ve had your fair share of troubles, I remember my
grandfather once asking me rhetorically; “how is it that sometime when troubles
visit, they don’t come one at a time?” I was only a young man at the time, how
was I supposed to know that sometimes it never rains but it
God delivered David from every trouble, self-inflicted and
otherwise, He will deliver you as well because He said, I the Lord do not change…” Malachi 3:6
May this moment mark a turning
point in your life, the same way you may have experienced challenges, begin to experience
the blessings of God in Jesus’ name.
