“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father,
and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts.
If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast
you off forever. Consider now, for the Lord has chosen
you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong, and do it.” 1Chronicles 28
Here David is giving some very important instructions to
Solomon his son, the new king of Israel. It’s not a common thing to have two
kings of the same nation in conversation; this makes it all the more interesting.
Solomon had a humongous task ahead of him, building the temple for God as well
as leading the people of Israel.
Most of us will never be required to build a temple in our
life time, but all of us are required to treat our bodies as a temple of God.
Jim Rohn said this is wise idea; it’s the only place you have to live at the
Treating your body like a temple includes feeding it the
right stuff. Psalms 103:5 says God satisfies your mouth with good things, So
that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Another aspect of looking after your body properly
is recreation and enough rest.
Finally David said If you seek Him(God), He will be found
by you; this is similar to the profound promise made by Jesus in Matthew 7:7, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock,
and it will be opened to you.
