Now there were four leprous men
at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we
sitting here until we die? If we say, ‘We will enter the city,’ the
famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we
die also. Now therefore, come, let us surrender to the army of the
Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we
shall only die.” 2 Kings 7
There had been a severe want in the city due
to a siege by Ben-Hadad. Actually some women in the city turned
cannibals, the situation was that bad. In those days lepers were not
allowed in the city, they lived outside the city in their own colonies
sustaining themselves whichever way they could, chiefly through the
goodwill of others.
there was no support coming out from the city for obvious reasons. In
spite of their condition, these four lepers were strategic about their
situation, they listed their options. Everyone needs to apply this type
of critical thinking every now and then; it usually leads to a solution.
Write down your options if you can, the act of writing it down also
helps to clear your mind which in turn will enhance your productivity.
Finally once you’ve come to the right decision, start taking steps in
the right direction and you’ll be surprised how doors will start opening
for you. Once we’ve done all we can do, God helps with what we can’t
do. All these while God has only been waiting for you to move; take the
first few steps and see how God, nature or providence will support you.
May the Lord support you as you start taking the right steps in Jesus’ name. Walk into your overflow.
