Now Elisha had said to the woman
whose son he had restored to life, “Go away with your family and stay
for a while wherever you can, because the LORD has decreed a famine in
the land that will last seven years.” The woman proceeded to do as the
man of God said. She and her family went away and stayed in the land of
the Philistines seven years. 2 Kings 8:1&2
In biblical times, there was a report of seven years of famine in world which had been preceded
by a seven years of Boom; everyone had to buy food from Egypt. Thank
God Pharaoh got a heads-up. While we may not be able to accurately
predict the turning point, we know as surely as night comes after day
and the changing of the seasons, that boom and bust always come one
after the other.
years people have been caught unawares, like the black Tuesday which is
believed to have ushered in the great recession of 1929. A lot of people
got wiped out overnight. A good friend once told me his experience
after the credit crunch; one day he was a company director and the next
day he was down at the job centre signing-on.
While sometimes you
could predict the coming doom, some other times it comes on you by
stealth. However imagine yourself with a friend on the inside who is
able to reveal to you the planned events of the universe. If you are
interested, you could have this alliance. The psalmist said The Lord is
my shepherd…because He guides me, I shall not want.
It is the
obligation of the shepherd to guide and the duty of the sheep to follow
instructions. Jesus said “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and
they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never
perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand”. John
Receive the grace to hear the voice of the shepherd and to follow him in Jesus’ name. You shall not be denied of your overflow.
