Be a Finisher

In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites came out of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the temple of the LORD. In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it. 1Kings 6:1&38

The first temple was built over a period of 7 years around 1000BC; the replacement after the original temple had been destroyed by the Babylonians took over 40years to complete.

The emphasis today is not so much in how long it took but the fact that this great works were completed. Whether it is the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem around 5th century BC or the building of a great community in 2016, any worthwhile project will have its fair share of challenges; labour, materials, logistics, morale, cost etc.

You must find enough reasons to want to complete your task. When you have more reasons to want to complete a task than reasons not to; chances are you will complete it. It might also be encouraging to celebrate little accomplishments along the way.

Stave Jobs said, ‘real artists ship’, you must find enough reasons to overcome the challenges of your set task and be a finisher.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion in Jesus’ name
